listen...i am all for everyone having their own opinion. i know i have my own and i voice it freely. but when the department of education states that president obama is going to deliver a speech directed at our youth. the intention of said speech is that "the president will speak directly to the nation's children and youth about persisting and succeeding in school. The president will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning." (from www.ed.gov)
principals are calling parents to let them know that their school ISN'T showing it? parents are calling district headquarters 5 times a day to complain about possibly airing the speech to the student body? honestly? can't we let the leader of our country speak to our children without getting the adult bullshit mixed into the pot? he's encouraging them to stay in school and give school their best...he's not going to bring up roe v. wade, talk about tax plans or preach about fiscal responsibility.
